I am an only child, and was the only grandchild for 20 years.
I am a survivor of bullying.
I married a wonderful man, who works everyday to understand, respect and protect how sensitive I am. I also married a man who is somewhat physically intimadating, as are his 4 brothers. Though none of them would hurt a fly - seriously, they are such gentle gentle men - I feel so surrounded by them and so protected.
I just wondered who else is an only child, and if anyone sought (consiously or not) partners similar to what I did.
I attached a picture from my wonderful wedding. The bigger guys are my husband and brothers-in-law.

Permalink Reply by Cat on April 14, 2012 at 6:25am I too am an only child. I think only children may be more prone to being bullied because they relate to adults more often then other children. My parents always treated me like a small adult. OF COURSE my peers thought I was weird-I acted like a grown up instead of a kid.
However, I did not choose large, protecting partners. Though I LOVE big an tall men, I myself am tall and tall men almost always go for petite girls. I am normally mental when it comes to choosing who to associate with now. My husband is handsome to me, but many may not agree. But he stimulates my mind and can make me laugh which to me are two extremely important qualities.
